Muzilla Project - Contributor Otto de Voogd
Otto is a long time volunteer for Mozilla. He started using Firefox back in 2004 and joined the effort to promote Firefox in 2005. It was his way of giving something back to the community, but more importantly because he saw that Firefox offered the best chance to achieve his belief that the Internet should be an open network (which aligns well with the Mozilla Mission).
He built a checkers game based on the second browser war, got himself a Firefox Bankcard, which incidentally became a number one story on Digg, sponsored the first Firefox Ad to appear on TV, and built several tools based on the download counter, such as the Download Counter microblogs on Twitter, Identi.ca and Mozilla Status Net. The download counter tools garnered a lot of media attention around the 1 billion download milestone, including being mentioned in the Washington Post. He also maintains Foxysearch.org a Google custom search engine for searching the Mozilla ecosystem, organizes hosting and system administration for AccessFirefox.org, and now also volunteers as an admin on SpreadFirefox.
Besides his interest in technology, he enjoys traveling and learning languages. He has lived in 9 countries and speaks 6 languages.
